For Chrysler, 2012′s June was its best in five years. Volkswagen and Ford, as well as other car makers, also experienced excellent sales numbers, and the German car maker responsible for some of today’s hottest car models expects to have it’s best sales year in the US since the 1970s.
“Despite a rising level of uncertainty with the economic recovery, consumers remain resilient in their willingness to purchase new vehicles
Jeff Schuster, senior vice-president of forecasting at LMC Automotive, said that even though 2012 is still a year of bare recovery, and despite the year having its continuing economic troubles, “consumers remain resilient in their willingness to purchase new vehicles.”
Great for New Cars, What About Older Ones?
So this is good news for auto makers, but what about junk car buyers? Turns out, it’s good for all parties involved. Because the average age of vehicles on the road had increased in recent years, we’re now seeing more cars getting replaced by newer vehicles as the economy improves.
For many junk car buyers, this means that more consumers are giving up their vehicles, many of which are at least ten to fifteen years old. One consumer even gave up his 1984 Camry, which had been his daily driver for the last twenty-plus years.
Many consumers may be in a better place to buy vehicles, but not everyone is in the market for a new car. For those who are looking at used cars, this is also a great market, with many more opportunities than there have been in the past few years.
A Trend in the Making
According to auto industry experts, the recent boom in auto sales is to be expected. In 2005, Americans bought more than 17 million new vehicles, and now that those models are seven years old, many families are looking to trade up.
So if you’re looking for a new car, the good news is that the market is wide open, and with many deals and promotions going on, you should be able to find a practical solution if you have decent credit.
If you’re looking to get into a used car, or just get rid of an old junk car, there’s also hope: more people are buying used cars, more companies are buying junk cars, and the auto industry is looking great.
